The first images from 2018's "gritty" reimagining of Robin Hood have teased a new Sherwood Forest full of automatic weapons, fashionable battle armour and chic fascist-wear straight out of a Hunger Games reboot.
Starring Kingsman's Taron Egerton and produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, the film has been described as a dark, revisionist prequel to the historical story, with Deadline claiming in 2015 that the script had been likened to Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight.
The first pictures from the film depict Egerton and Jamie Foxx as Robin and Little John, Eve Hewson (daughter of U2's Bono) as Maid Marian and Ben Mendelsohn as a sharply-outfitted Sheriff of Nottingham – who appears to be backed up by an army of minions carrying weapons that look like machine guns.
